This Privacy Policy explains how RC Chronicles ("we," "us," or "our"), owned and operated by IO LABS, LLC, collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our mobile app, Apple Watch features, widgets, website at rollercoasterchronicles.com, and related services (collectively, the "Service").

By using RC Chronicles, you agree to the practices described here. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.

Who We Are

RC Chronicles is a community-powered theme park companion developed by IO LABS, LLC. If you have questions about your data or this policy, contact us at matt@thelabs.io.

What We Collect

Account Information. When you sign in with Google or Apple, we receive a unique user identifier. If you sign in with Apple and choose to share your name or email, we receive those as well. If you use Apple's private email relay, we only see the relay address. We do not receive your password. You may also create a username, avatar, bio, home park, and other profile details.

Activity Data. We collect information you create in the Service, including ride logs, wait times, ratings, reviews, trip reports, park visits, favorites, ride lists, buddy tags, photos, and related activity.

Location. If you grant location permission in the app, we use it to determine whether you are at a park, verify that you are near a ride when you start a timer, support check-ins, and enable proximity-based features. Most location processing happens on your device. Raw GPS coordinates from timer verification stay on your device and are not uploaded. However, if you submit a ride status report, your approximate location may be included and visible to other users. The website does not collect location data.

Photos and Content. If you upload photos (through the app or website), we collect the image, thumbnails, and associated context such as the ride, park, and upload date. Shared photos undergo automated safety review before becoming visible to the community. Photos may contain location metadata (EXIF data) from the original file.

Health and Fitness Data. If you grant HealthKit permission in the app, we read your daily step count to display walking statistics in trip summaries. We access step counts only — we do not read any other health categories and we do not write data to Apple Health. We never use health data for advertising, marketing, or data mining. The website does not access health data.

Device Information. We collect push notification tokens, app version, and platform details to deliver notifications, sync data, and support Apple Watch and widget features.

Website Usage. When you use the website, we collect standard server logs (IP address, browser type, pages visited). We use cookies for session management and authentication. We do not use third-party tracking cookies on the website.

Subscription Information. If you purchase a Supporter subscription, Apple handles the payment. We store your subscription status, product identifiers, and transaction details to manage your entitlement. We do not receive your payment method or billing details.

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to operate and improve RC Chronicles, including:

• Creating and maintaining your account
• Syncing your ride history, stats, trip reports, and settings across the app and website
• Operating timers, day summaries, leaderboards, and social features
• Delivering push notifications for friend requests, meetups, and timers
• Processing and managing Supporter subscriptions
• Reviewing and moderating user-submitted content for safety
• Preventing abuse, fraud, and violations of our Terms of Use
• Supporting Apple Watch, widgets, and Live Activities

What Others Can See

RC Chronicles includes social and community features. Depending on your settings, other users may be able to see your username, avatar, bio, ratings, shared photos, trip reports, leaderboard ranking, team membership, and park activity. Content shown in widgets, Live Activities, or on Apple Watch may be visible to anyone who can see your device. Trip reports published on the website may be visible to the public depending on your visibility settings.

You control your profile visibility through your privacy settings. We recommend only sharing content you are comfortable making available to other users.

Advertising

If you use the RC Chronicles app with a free account, we display ads through Google AdMob. The AdMob SDK may collect device identifiers, IP address, ad interaction data, and app performance information to deliver and measure ads.

Where required by law, including in the European Economic Area and United Kingdom, we obtain your consent before showing personalized ads. You can change your ad preferences through the consent options in the app.

Supporters with an active subscription do not see ads.

We do not request access to your device's advertising identifier (IDFA) and do not track you across other apps or websites. The website does not display ads. For more information about how Google handles ad data, visit Google's Privacy Policy.

Who We Share With

We use the following services to operate RC Chronicles:

• Google Firebase — for account authentication, data storage and sync, push notifications, cloud processing, and app security verification
• Google Cloud — for automated safety review of shared photos
• Google AdMob — for ad delivery to free accounts (app only)
• Apple — for Sign in with Apple, push notifications, subscriptions, HealthKit, WeatherKit, and related platform services

We do not sell your personal information. We may disclose information if required by law, to protect user safety, or to enforce our Terms of Use.

Where Your Data Lives

Your data is stored on servers operated by Google Cloud, primarily in the United States. By using RC Chronicles, you acknowledge that your information may be transferred to and processed in the United States, where privacy laws may differ from your home country. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for international transfers.

How Long We Keep It

We keep your data while your account is active and as needed to provide the Service. When you delete your account, we remove your data from active systems. Backups and cached copies expire on their normal schedule. We may retain limited records for safety, abuse prevention, or legal compliance after deletion.

Your Rights and Choices

You can:

• Use the app in guest mode without creating an account
• Control your profile visibility and sharing settings
• Manage location, notification, and HealthKit permissions in your device Settings
• Delete photos, trip reports, and content you have shared
• Reset your synced data or delete your account from the app Settings
• Manage your Apple subscription through Apple

If you are in the European Economic Area or United Kingdom, you have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, or port your personal data, and to object to processing based on legitimate interests. You may also withdraw consent at any time without affecting prior processing, and you have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

If you are in California, the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA) gives you the right to know what personal information we collect, the right to delete it, the right to correct it, and the right to opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell your personal information.

Legal Basis for Processing (EEA and UK)

We process your personal data under the following legal bases:

• Your consent — for location access, HealthKit data, personalized advertising, and shared photo uploads. You can withdraw consent at any time.
• Performance of our contract with you — for account management, wait time tracking, data sync, social features, and subscription fulfillment.
• Our legitimate interests — for service security, abuse prevention, content moderation, and service improvement, balanced against your rights and freedoms.

Children

RC Chronicles is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account or provided personal information, contact us at matt@thelabs.io and we will promptly investigate and delete the data.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures to protect your information. However, no system is perfectly secure. You are responsible for keeping your device and account credentials secure.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or website. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the current version.
